A report on Human Trafficking in the Sinai: Refugees between Life and Death was presented to a public hearing at the European Parliament on 26 September 2012. Published by EEPA and the University of Tilburg the report investigates the process involved in the trafficking of refugees, many who are fleeing from desperate circumstances in Eritrea, Ethiopia and Sudan. The horrors that refugees endure in the hands of traffickers in the Sinai is starkly illustrated by the collection and analysis of interviews with refugees who have been victims of the trade. Held in inhuman conditions and tortured for a ransom; many are killed even after the ransom is paid. It is with the thorough analysis of this outrageous situation that the authors make recommendations to actors from international organizations to national authorities in order to put an end to this tragedy.
