An Angolan teenager who arrived in the Netherlands aged 10 has lost his fight to stay in the country despite a heartfelt plea to the Dutch parliament and a wave of protest at his treatment.
Mauro Manuel, now 18, has been living in the Dutch province of Limburg with a foster family since he arrived in the Netherlands as an unaccompanied asylum seeker in 2003. He is facing deportation because he is an adult. Dutch MPs voted down two motions on Tuesday that would have allowed him to stay in the country permanently. They are expected to vote next week on a compromise motion that would allow him to stay to hear whether or not an application for a temporary four-year student visa has been successful.

Veintiséis inmigrantes de origen subsahariano han llegado esta mañana en una embarcación a la costa de Tarifa (Cádiz).
Según fuentes del servicio de Emergencias 112 Andalucía, en la patera que ha arribado a la costa gaditana viajaban tres mujeres que han sido trasladadas al Hospital de Punta Europa de Algeciras por presentar síntomas graves de hipotermia.
Los hechos se han producido a las 8.25 horas de hoy cuando ha sido avistada por un particular una patera atracada a la altura del paseo marítimo de Tarifa, en la cual viajaban once mujeres, dos de ellas embarazadas, seis menores y nueve hombres, todos ellos de origen subsahariano.
Al lugar se han desplazado los servicios de Protección Civil, Cruz Roja, la Guardia Civil y la Policía Nacional y Local y los servicios sanitarios, que han atendido y trasladado al hospital a tres de estas mujeres.(refunitees.wordpress.com)
