THE High Court has ruled against the government's application of immigration laws, yesterday overturning a decision barring the family of a refugee from joining him in Australia.
The court ruled that the Immigration Department had made an error when it did not give visas to the family of a refugee who arrived in Australia as a minor because he had turned 18 by the time his application was processed.

La Ciudad Autónoma ha remitido a la Comandancia General de Ceuta una carta para ver si algún establecimiento militar que no esté siendo utilizado puede ser destinado a convertirse en un centro de acogida para los menores extranjeros no acompañados (MENA). De esta forma, el Gobierno trata de cumplir con el requerimiento de la Fiscalía de buscar en un plazo de dos meses un centro con mejores condiciones para los MENA que el de La Esperanza.

THE federal government has come under renewed judicial attack over the way it treats unaccompanied teenage asylum seekers.
A 17-year-old boy, who was hospitalised in Darwin after trying to hang himself from a double bunk bed, is at the centre of a challenge in the Federal Court to the prolonged detention of recognised refugees waiting for ASIO security clearance.
