In Italia, secondo il rapporto 2013 del Ministero del Lavoro, sono 7.066 i minori non accompagnati; un nuovo modo di essere minori nel mondo attuale e  una nuova relazione tra lo Stato e l'infanzia, tra il rispetto dei loro diritti e le future politiche.

I 7000 minori non accompagnati ci mostrano la realtà dei minori nel  mondo; questi minori sono l'immagine, la fotografia  vivente della sofferenza dei minori  nei paesi vicini e lontani al nostro, sono le vittime dell'instabilità politica, sociale ed economica dei loro paesi d'origine.

La iniciativa de Bienestar Social reúne a medio centenar de profesionales que trabajan con menores. Las instalaciones de la Granja Escuela acogió ayer la celebración de un taller de sensibilización de la Infancia y Protección Internacional del Menor en el que participaron más de 50 profesionales, entre abogados, psicólogos y trabajadores sociales que desarrollan su labor profesional con los menores de edad. Se hizo especial hincapié en la problemática que rodea a los Menores Extranjeros No Acompañados (Mena) y en la necesidad de dar “una solución duradera” a estos menores que si bien están protegidos por la legislación española, a partir de los 18 años se quedan en una situación jurídica irregular en territorio español. 
Margarita de la Rasilla, oficial de Protección de la Delegación del Alto Comisionado en Naciones Unidas en España, fue una de las ponentes de la jornada, y que puso de relieve la situación de desprotección e irregularidad jurídica en la que se quedan los Menas una vez que cumplen la mayoría de edad. “Hay que buscar una solución a esta situación encaminada a la integración social completa de estas personas porque se les da mucha protección siendo menores, pero al cumplir 18 años se les debería facilitar la integración ya que se quedan en territorio nacional”, subrayó.
