Refugee advocates want the Australian Government to move an 11-year-old asylum seeker out of detention in the island state of Tasmania and into the local community.

The Pontville centre near Hobart has been re-branded as an alternative place of detention by the Immigration Department and is being used to detain almost 300 unaccompanied minors from places like Afghanistan, Vietnam, Iran and Sri Lanka.
Authorities say the 11-year-old child is being held along with two cousins but the immigration department won't say how long the children have been detained.

Da oltre 20 giorni si trova, insieme a molti altri coetanei, nel CPSA: troppi, tanto che Lampedusa diventa un limbo in cui quale riaffiorano le emozioni, spesso profondamente ambivalenti, che hanno nutrito il suo viaggio, senza la possibilità di proseguirlo.

Décision tout ce qu’il y a de plus  favorable aux mineurs isolés étrangers ce mercredi  3 juillet au tribunal correctionnel de Lyon:
Le tribunal correctionnel s’est déclaré incompétent pour juger Mohamed Bah accusé d’avoir menti sur son âge pour “profiter” des aides du Conseil général.
Il renvoie le parquet vers une éventuelle autre juridiction  compétente qu’il lui appartiendra de trouver… Un juge pour enfants…
Ce jugement revient à reconnaître la minorité de Mohamed qui a donc été libéré sans aucune condamnation, lavé des accusations qui pesaient sur lui.

Immigration Minister Tony Burke says he is working to get an 11-year-old boy out of a Tasmanian detention centre as quickly as possible.
The Sri Lankan child is being held at the centre at Pontville, near Hobart, along with two older cousins.
Mr Burke visited the centre last week at met the boy.

Nell'isola simbolo dell'immigrazione, Papa Francesco ha voluto incontrare i migranti venuti dalle "periferie del mondo". In prima fila, ad assistere alla messa di Papa Francesco, un gruppo di migranti del CSPA di Lampedusa.  Con alcuni, Papa Bergoglio si è trattenuto, slautandoli, parlando con loro e ascoltando soprattutto la voce del damma di chi affronta fra mille pericoli il viaggio per cercare una vita migliore.

Importanti, oltre ai gesti sono state le parole di Papa Francesco, che ha detto la cultura del benessere ci rende "insensibili alle grida degli altri", ci fa vivere "in bolle di sapone", in una situazione "che porta all'indifferenza verso gli altri. Di più: oggi c'è una "globalizzazione dell'indifferenza". Ci siamo abituati alla sofferenza dell'altro, non ci riguarda, non ci interessa, non è affare nostro!".
