L’Agenzia Onu per i rifugiati ha ricevuto molti rapporti su abusi avvenuti in Ungheria. Gli immigrati che giungono nella terra Magiara scappano da situazioni di estrema povertà, da crudeli guerre come ad esempio gli Afghani (la maggioranza) e i Somali, tra questi moltissimi sono i minori migranti che all'arrivo nella tanto sognata Europa gli spetta una sorte non migliore nei luoghi natii.
Dalla testimonianza di un Rifugiato a Nyiribator, in Ungheria, la situazione non è dissimile da quella riscontrabile negli altri CIE d'Europa.“Se qualcuno si comportava male era portato in una parte della prigione che chiamavamo Guantanamo. I profughi che non se ne stavano tranquilli, che magari accennavano a qualche reazione erano portati lì per diversi giorni e picchiati dalla polizia”.
Inoltre, c'è da aggiungere che il governo conservatore e populista di Viktor Orban, nel 2010, contro ogni norma internazionale ha stabilito che anche quei migranti che presentano richiesta di asilo devono attendere l’esame della domanda in stato di detenzione.
Il direttore dell’Unhcr Ungheria, Gottfried Koefner dice: “È una cosa molto triste. Queste persone scappano per ottime ragioni e potrebbero aver già visto prima una prigione dall’interno e appena passano i confini dell’Unione Europea vengono imprigionati e tornano a vedere solo sbarre”.
