U.S.: Illegal Immigrant Entry of Unaccompanied Children Increases

The illegal crossing of unaccompanied minors from Mexico to the United States increased considerably during the last seven months, compared to the same period in 2011, say immigration authorities.

  So far this fiscal year, which started on October 1, a total of 15,590 solitary immigrant children have been arrested, compared to about 10,770 in the same period in 2011 and 13,267 in 2010.

Dentro i CIE, in base al rapporto elaborato dal Comitato per la protezione dei diritti umani sono trattenuti anche i minori stranieri soli e soprattutto i CIE risultano “inadatti a garantire una permanenza dignitosa agli immigrati”, e “palesemente inadeguati a tutelare la dignità e i diritti fondamentali dei migranti trattenuti”.

 A cell phone call from a Spanish-speaking man who said he and others were locked in a house brought police to a dirt road on the outskirts of town.  There they found three small homes used as "stash houses" to hide 117 illegal immigrants, including 10 children, who had just been smuggled across the Mexican border into the United States.
