MELBOURNE, 5 March 2013 (IRIN) - Australia is failing in its international obligations to protect the rights of close to 2,000 children now in immigration detention, say rights groups and legal experts.
“You cannot underestimate the human cost of detaining children,” Jeroen Van Hove, the coordinator of the International Detention Coalition (IDC), an umbrella group of 258 members (including organizations) working in 50 countries around the world, based in Belgium, told IRIN, describing Australia’s detention regimes as one of the “harshest” in the world.

Responsable de la prise en charge des mineurs étrangers isolés arrivant dans le département, le Conseil Général de Maine-et-Loire estime ne plus pouvoir y faire face financièrement. Conséquence directe : trois d'entre eux sont hébergés depuis plusieurs jours en urgence par l'Etat, sans accompagnement spécifique.
A défaut, deux des trois mineurs sont logés dans les préfabriqués installés boulevard Couffon, à la Baumette. Le troisième a été pris en charge dans un hôtel
Deux d'entre eux s'appellent Mamadou. Le troisième, Abdelkarim. Ils sont tchadien, guinéen et mauritanien, selon la Cimade, qui vient d'alerter la presse sur leur situation. Pourquoi ? Parce que ces trois migrants africains, arrivés seuls sur Angers ces derniers mois, sont des mineurs et devraient être, à ce titre, pris en charge par l'Aide sociale à l'enfance que pilote le Conseil Général de Maine-et-Loire.
